Puglia Typical products

Puglia is one of the Italian region that is at the forehead for quantity fished, both for seafood and select fish. Yet Puglia, thanks to its hot climate and large dimensions, is also famous for its fruit and vegetables. Olive tree plantations are plentiful and so the production of Extra Virgin Olive Oil is copious. Puglia can boast 5 DOP such oils. Goats and sheep raise is widespread and so are dairies. Puglia’s classic entrée is the pasta called Orecchiette, traditionally dressed with broccoli rabe. However there also are Lasagnelle, Soups, Troccoli, Duana, Cavatieddi, Fish soup. As far as main dishes go, Agnello alla carbonara, Caldaniello, Cutturidde, Terrina di carne alla barese, Snapper with olives, Red snapper, Alici arracanate. Then vegetable dishes such as Taranto Style Eggplants and Cardoncelli. And to complete this region’s rich culinary art, cheese, especially Burrata di Andria, Caciocavallo, Mozzarella,  and Provola. Finally for desserts, Cuciuni and Zeppole di San Giuseppe.
