The hills of Gennargentu in Sardinia and pure Cannonau
Hike in the vineyards + Visit and tasting in winery | Duration: Approximately 3 hours
This wine producing company can be found in Mamoiada, right at the heart of the Barbagia, surrounded by the hills of Gennargentu and Supramonte. A family-run business, part of the Associazione viticoltori di Mamojà (Mamojà wine growers association), an association whose aim is to preserve and promote both the territory and local wines. Fifteen hectares of land at an average height of 736 metres are cultivated organically, to keep the soil fresh and alive. The wines are red and rosé, based on pure Cannonau grapes and deriving from vines of different ages, and whites deriving from the Granazza vines, regularly blended with Cannonau. Wines ferment spontaneously and do not undergo stabilisations, clarifications or filtrations. The sulphite content in the bottle is minimal, only the essential quantity to assure the stability of wines during transportation. This is an activity to discover both Mamoiada, a place with an important history and great traditions and a wine producing company, where hospitality is so rooted in the company DNA that guests are treated just like a part of the family.

The hills of Gennargentu in Sardinia and pure Cannonau
Hike in the vineyards + Visit and tasting in winery | Duration: Approximately 3 hours
Mamoiada is a village of 2600 inhabitants located in the heart of Barbagia a few miles from Gennargentu, Supramonte and the most important tourist sites. The area is well known for other activities besides viticulture, such as sheep-farming and the production of great bread and sweet dishes. Moreover, Mamoiada is located in a green valley rich in springs, a characteristic that most certainly favoured settlements in ancient times since the Neolithic. Many are the menhirs in the area, the most famous being the Sa Perda Pintà, which gives its name to the white produced with Granazza vines. Mamoiada boasts an extremely ancient rite that is passed on from generation to generation: that of the Mamuthones, from which the name of the DOC symbol of the Company comes, the Mamuthone, and the Issohadores. Born in ancient times, as active actors in pagan rituals, their origins are passed on since the dawn of time. The ritual of the mask is a metamorphosis, the transformation of a man into a divinity.
