Sicily and the wines from the Noto valley
Visit and tasting | Duration: Approximately 2 hours
The area of Noto and Pachino has always been an excellent area for the cultivation of grapes, boasting plains and low hills and a particular soil variability, ranging from white limestone to black clay and Mediterranean red. This winery is located in this area of southeastern Sicily. Its vocation is mainly targeted at local grapes such as the Moscato di Noto and the Nero d’Avola, along with a careful selection of different Chardonnays. They cultivate orchards, olive groves and vineyards exclusively according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture and the wines produced only derive from their own grapes. With this activity you will be able to get to know the company and its philosophy, to visit the winery and adjacent vineyards and taste three wines with local products.

Sicily and the wines from Noto valley
Visit and tasting | Duration: Approximately 2 hours
The main focus is the redevelopment of such an important area for wine grape cultivation. Through a selection of the oldest vineyards in the Pachino area, different biotypes of Nero d’Avola (main vine of the area) have been identified. Native varieties have been planted too, such as the white Moscato variety from which the ancient Moscato di Noto originates and two clones of Chardonnay have been selected since they’ve adapted well to the microclimate in Pachino, thus conferring peculiar organoleptic characteristics. The planting methods are sapling and espalier, by sapling 7000 plants per hectare are cultivated whereas the plants grown in rows are about 5500 per hectare. These cultivations make the most of the gentle slopes, the sunlight and the prevailing winds in the area. A corner of southeastern Sicily between Pachino and Noto, the latter dubbed “the capital of Baroque” and whose historic centre was declared a World Heritage Site by Unseco in 2002.
